Production of X(3872) versus psi(2S) at high multiplicity at LHCb (pp, pPb) and CMS (PbPb). Figure provided by Enrico Scomparin. X in Media
The figure is a summary of the results on the cross section ratios of X(3872) and psi(2S), from low- to high-multiplicity pp collisions, p-Pb and Pb-Pb, at LHC energy. These results were obtained by LHCb and CMS , studying the decay channel J/psi pi+ pi-. The decrease of the ratios as a function of the charged multiplicity is followed by a progressive increase in p-Pb and Pb-Pb. These data presents an important challenge, actually in progress, for the models trying to extract information on the nature of the X(3872) by analyzing its final state interaction in the strongly interacting matter created in nuclear collisions. New and more accurate results from LHC run 3 are eagerly awaited for.
